Our History

The Presbyterian Children’s Society celebrated its 150th anniversary in 2016. Over the course of that 150 year period the Society has changed its name from the Presbyterian Orphan Society to the Presbyterian Orphan and Children’s Society to the Presbyterian Children’s Society. However the basis of caring remains unaltered and the work of helping children, young people and their families is ongoing.

As part of its celebratory year, the Society commissioned a specially designed information pack which tells the story of its 150 year history in a readable and accessible format. This pack is thought provoking and challenging, stirring us towards thankfulness to God for the Society playing a small part in the lives of every child, young person and family it’s helped throughout the generations.
