Applying for an Exceptional Grant

What is an Exceptional Grant?

An exceptional grant is a one-off grant payment.  Any family, in circumstances of need, is eligible.  The family may or may not be receiving regular help from the Society.

Circumstances of need will vary considerably across families but may include the following:

  • Education expenses
  • Funeral expenses
  • Debt repayments
  • Basic and essential clothing
  • General household expenses

This list is not exhaustive and other needs or circumstances can be discussed confidentially by contacting the Society’s office.

Exceptional Grants Procedure

  1. A completed application form signed by the Minister and briefly detailing why the grant is needed, is returned to the Society where it will be considered for approval.
  2. If approved, a cheque payment will be made payable to the family and issued to the Minster for distribution.  Other payment options can be considered at the Society’s discretion.
  3. An exceptional grant can be considered up to £600.00.

Ministers can download an Exceptional Grant application.  A Word and PDF version are both available.

You can submit an application to the Society by email.
