What is a Regular Grant?
Regular grants are payments made to families each quarter. The payment is based on a family’s size and is distributed by the Society to the family through their local Minister. Depending on financial resources, a summer and winter grant will be paid to each family for their children. The formal procedure of applying for a grant, which is always processed and endorsed by a Presbyterian Minister, is set out below.
Regular Grants Procedure
- A completed application form signed by the Minister and the Applicant, is returned to the Society where it will be reviewed to check eligibility.
- An interim grant will be issued to the Minister for the family if they are eligible.
- The Society’s Board of Governors reviews all applications either in April or October of each year at which point families are accepted formally for continued help.
- Going forward, a quarterly return is sent to Ministers to check for any changes which might affect the grant continuing to be paid. A cheque payment is issued to the Minister for distribution provided the family remains eligible.
- Annually the Society will issue a financial return to families through their Minister to check if the family continue to qualify for the grant.
